With over six miles of beautiful beaches, Maui's sunny south shore is a beach-combing, sun-worshipper's paradise!  The climate is arid and receives only around 10 inches of rain per year, making this a perfect spot to soak up the sun year-round.  Snorkeling, surfing, diving, stand-up paddling, kayaking, and boogie boarding are all readily available with instruction, equipment and tours nearby.  This informative guide will help you choose the right spot just for you, all within minutes of the condo!

KEAWAKAPU BEACH:  Restful!  South Kihei is the perfect place to bring a book and soak in the sun.  Also a delightful snorkel and swim spot, many first learn to Scuba here.  Pleasant for a walk or to learn stand-up paddling, there is a small parking lot, restrooms and a shower.  Kids will enjoy discovering and learning to observe tiny sealife in the tidepools at either end of this beach park.

KAMA'OLE BEACH PARK I:  across from the ABC Store, where you can get cold drinks, snacks, sunscreen and even a cooler to take across S Kihei Rd to where the grass is green, the sand is gold and there's plenty of sun.

KAMA'OLE BEACH PARK II:  nestled between Kams I & III, this smallest Kam Park features picnic tables, BBQs, drinking fountains and restrooms, but has street parking only.  Great for swimming, the south side reef offers excellent snorkeling.

KAMA'OLE BEACH PARK III:  the great sunset gathering place!  You will know when the sun's about to set - folks are drawn to this spot with a large and beautiful grassy lawn overlooking the ocean.  A lovely choice for a picnic dinner - there's plenty of parking, BBQs, picnic areas, and swings, along with shower and restroom facilities.

WAIPUILANI PARK KIHEI BEACH RESERVE:  this 20 acre park features plenty of grass, offshore swimming, a soccer field, seemingly magic trees, tennis & volleyball courts, parking, restrooms and great kit flying!

KALAMA PARK:  36 diverse (truly) acres with something for everyone.  Although not known for swimming, this beach is the most popular spot for beginning surfers.  This large park complex offers plenty of services and beach sport entertainment.  There's even a keiki cove: shallow water for wee waders.  Great facilities for family outings.

CHARLEY YOUNG:  a Kihei classic, this small park, just south of Kalama - down a little lane across from Maui Vista Resort - has extremely limited parking.  Fun for sunning and swimming, this long stretch of sandy beach is also a popular spot for a game of horseshoes!

MA POINA 'OE IA'U BEACH:  this windy beach is a great spot for windsurfing, kiteboarding and surfing.  This narrow strip of beach is full of action.  Come watch or join in!

KALEPOLEPO BEACH PARK:  near the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale Sanctuary, this grassy spot in North Kiehi is steps away from the treasured Ko'ie'ie Fishpond - built hundres of years ago, it is an integral part of historical Hawaiian Island life.  You'll also be able to visit the National Marine Sanctuary Learning Center right next door.

THE COVE:  the calm, shallow water at this little park is a haven for keiki.  This half-acre beach park features a portable toilet and a picnic table, but most importantly, it's a great spot for kids and grownups to play in the baby waves, and learn to surf or try stand-up paddle boarding.  Surf schools are available nearby with all the instruction and equipment you'll need to get started!
